The Watcher of the Mists
Known as the Dawnflower, the Healing Flame, and the Everlight, the goddess Sarenrae brings warmth and radiance to everyone who allows her into their souls. Those with compassionate hears and kind intentions turn to Sarenrae as both the source and protector of all things good. Her church believes in redemption: that those who choose to renounce their evil ways and act to restore any harm that they had caused should be forgiven and welcomed back. But those who refuse to turn away from evil should rightly be destroyed by cleansing fire or by the scimitar.
Worship of Sarenrae is most widespread in the desert kingdom of Qadira, where her church is the state religion. The Empire of Taldor, which has been at war with Qadira off-and-on for centuries, has outlawed worship of Sarenrae within its borders, fearing that her worshipers could be Qadiran spies. The Dawnflower’s church is also one of the few faiths that is not welcome in the Varisian city of Kaer Maga— In the City of Strangers, followers of Sarenrae tend to be considered troublemakers that don’t mind their own business.
